"The apostle John was exiled to the island of Patmos in the Mediterranean (Agean) Sea. While there, he received divine visions of things past, things present, and things future. Among other things, the book of Revelation tells us of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ (as King and Judge), the great tribulation, the millennium (a thousand years), the battle of Armageddon, the great white throne of judgment, and the New Jerusalem. Revelation was written in response to the direct command of the Lord, and there is a promise of blessing to all who read or hear its words."
