Biblical Authenticity
- The Bible was written over a time-span of over 1600 years.
- It is recorded history across 3 continents, Africa - Asia - Europe.
- It was written by over 40 Authors.
- It was written in 3 languages, Aramaic - Hebrew - Greek.
- It was heavily "regulated" into accepted canonic (66 books) and rejected non-canonic books by the man made Catholic Church Religion and Roman Emperors during the 4th & 5th century AD.
- It has 1 primary theme - the glory of God & salvation to everyone believing in Jesus Christ.
- The earliest surfacing Bibles, the Silver Bible (526 post Rome Gothic) - The Great Bible (1539 English) - the Geneva Bible (1557 Protestant English) - Douay Rheims Bible (1579) - the King James Version (1608 English) and the many versions adapted to more modern language mainly during the 19th & 20th century, all stays unisone and firm in textual & historical meaning & content, differing just slightly on some choosing of words & Analogy. The analysis of percentuel wordly differences never exceeds 5 % amongst all versions. This is suprisingly accurate in content contemplating its origins, age and the many versions thereafter.
- The archeological findings and excavasions at the Egyptian city of Oxyrhynchus in 1895 revealed a staggering amount of manuscripts, texts and documents in a major part confirming Biblical texts and its conformity over time. The vast majority of those hand written copies, what we call the manuscripts of the Bible, and prticularly the earliest ones come from Egypt. Almost immediately after its production, the books of the Bible were being copied and translated into numerous languages and spread across the ancient world. This means that the modern English Bible that we have today is some 2000 years removed from even the last book written in it. How can we then know that we have today was accurately copied and translated over that time ?? It was discoveries of ancient Papyrie in places like the city of Oxarincus that allow us to answer this question. This city on the banks of the river Nile was where papyrus was being grown and made into writing material. It was in the garbage dumps of Oxarincus where a treasure of ancient manuscripts was eventually discovered. In 1895, fresh graduate from Queens collage, England and Oxford, Bernard Pyne Grenfell, and his friend Arthur Surridge Hunt left England on a trip to come to Egypt sponsored by the Egyptian exploration society in the quest to find papyrie. Over half a million papyrie were discovered including every book of the Bible and a number of influential classical and religious texts.
- The findings of the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran in 1947 layed a major evidence towards the Bible texts Authenticity & uniform historical alignment with following Bible text versions. Since the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in 1947–1956, extensive excavations have taken place in Qumran. Nearly 900 scrolls were discovered. Most were written on parchment and some on papyrus. Cisterns, Jewish ritual baths, and cemeteries have been found, along with a dining or assembly room and debris from an upper story alleged by some to have been a scriptorium as well as pottery kilns and a tower.
Many scholars believe the location was home to a Jewish sect, probably the Essenes. Notable is that it is not only the Catholic Church construct and their canonic choices that is uniform in content and history, but also the non-canon texts. This is interesting because several of the non-canonic texts & books like, the book of Jubilees, The Book of Enoch, the book of Wisdom and the book of Jasher were considered among the most canon of books before the catholic church interventions.
